Bourbon is as American as apple pie. Some might argue it is more
American than apple pie, but most of the rest of the world makes
their whiskey from malted barley. In the US there is a growing
trend toward producers making American Single Malts. It is a fast
growing and exciting category for whiskey enthusiasts. In this
episode we talk with one of the category's leading experts Matt
Drew. Matt is maltster and he runs the growing podcast Single Malt
Matters. Matt and I represent our respective spirits (Bourbon and
American Single Malts), and we explain the differences between the
two and the likely progression of American Single Malts as the US
laws change to keep up with the market.
